Album Review: A Prelude to the Future
The folks over at We Plug G.O.O.D music have released “A Prelude to the Future” a compilation spanning the genres hip-hop, soul, r&b, and spoken word from 20 promising Nigerian, American, and British acts you should be listening out for.
To focus on the emerging Nigerian artists featured on this compilation, Bez (“More You”) and Waje (“For a minute”) delivered their similar soul, and r&b sounds respectively. Needless to say an album can’t be too far away for these two.
Naira is an MC based in Atlanta, GA and known is for releasing a couple of successful mixtapes “Lost in Translation” (2009) and “The Colour of Love” (2010). Rapper Kel has experienced chart-topping success with singles form her freshman album “The Investment” and although recently parting ways with her label CAPital Hill, I’m sure she would be back on the music scene in no time.
Having worked with artists such as Beazy, Chykay and a host of others, producer Kid Konnect this year released a beat mixtape “The Epic II” and shot a video to one of the instrumentals “A Fu Lah Gah Fu Leh Geh” directed by Kemi Adetiba.
