Nollywood Sings: Genevieve, Omotola, Tonto, Jim and Stella…Which Nollywooder Should Give Up Music?!

Yesterday controversial actress Tonto Dikeh released two singles ITZ OVA and HI much to the collective horror of Naija music lovers the world over.

Tonto Dikeh’s auto-tuned singles drew several funny reactions on social media like “Are You tired of Life? Do you really want to kill yourself? download tonto Dikeh’s songs! Disastrous ultrasonic sound waves” being broadcast across social media networks. Hilarious but it shows how offended people are by her delving into music when she clearly has no business doing so.

Perhaps in a bid to showcase real talent fellow Nollywood actress Stella Damasus also released a single Love Me Quick, yesterday. Amazing voice but boring song. But the message to Tonto was clear : Leave the singing to those with the real talent.

Tonto and Stella aren’t the only Nollywooder’s who have even taken a stab at music though, in 2005 Genevieve Nnaji released No more Tears, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde who launched a music career in 2005 with debut single GBA, has insisted on continually assaulting our senses with her music, and who can forget Jim Iyke‘s 2009 music debut with Who Am I?

In my humble opinion I think most of these Nollywooder’s should leave music to the real pros. But how about you listen to their music after the jump and judge for yourself, who is the real talent and who should call it a day?
