Goldie Harvey Dead At 30 Years Old: Kennis Music Release Official Statement, Celebrities React

The news of singer Goldie Harvey’s shocking death last night is yet to sink in.

Her record label boss Kenny Ogungbe released a statement confirming her passing. Read below:

With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Awards. She was rushed from her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at exactly 7:30pm in the evening.

Brief Bio On The Girl Known As Susan To Her Family & Friends

Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey was born on October 22 1982. The first of four kids, Goldie attended the Green Springs Montessori Primary School and St. John’s College, Lagos. She embarked on her music career when studying at the University of Sunderland where she studiedyBusiness Management.

In 2010 she signed to Kennis Music, a few months later, she released her debut album ‘Gold’. Some of her popular songs include ‘You Know It’, ‘Jawo Jawo’ and DTMB (Don’t Touch My Body).

Famously known as the Lady Gaga of Nigeria for her elaborate costumes with bold & daring makeup (who could forget her super long eyelashes in the BBA house last year), Goldie before her untimely passing received a total of 10 awards, some of which are: Exquisite Lady of the year, Best Female Artiste award and City People Best Female Artiste of the year.

Last year Goldie became the final celebrity to exit the BBA7 star game house in 2012 in which she finished 3rd place, ensuring her massive popularity around the continent.

She is survived by her father, step- mother, siblings, friends and colleagues.

POSSIBLE CAUSE OF DEATH

Goldie returned from Los Angeles, USA yesterday evening where she had gone to attend the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, shortly after her return she complained of a severe headache & slumped shortly afterwards, she was rushed to the hospital but was already dead on getting there. An autopsy will be carried out but unconfirmed reports are listing possible Cause of death as a Pulmonary Embolism or Blood Clot. Please note this hasn’t been confirmed.

Goldie’s latest project involve a reality TV show called TRU FRIENDSHIP with her best friend media personality Denrele Edun. The two were true friends till the end, Goldie passed away in Denrele’s arms. It’s still too early to say what will happen to that and the other projects she had in the pipeline.

She was recently at the 55th Grammy Awards were she mingled with celebs like Ciara, Chaka Khan & more.

Goldie was said to have been dating Kenyan rapper Prezzo, who she met in the Big Brother StarGame House last year. The couple were reported to be head over heels in love, often spending time in each other’s home countries. So far we haven’t had a reaction from him to the sad news.

According to NETNG her body has been moved from Reddington Hospita, Victoria Island to The Ikeja Mortuary, General Hospital were it was deposited at about 02.00am this morning. She was accompanied by label boss Kenny Ogungbe, best friend Denrele Edun, Uti Nwachuku, Karen Igho, Yvonne “Vixen” Ekwere and a few reporters.
