Let me just start this post by saying, “No one should ever be subject to abuse or harm for who they choose to vote”
Igbo people on Twitter have been forced to defend themselves today as they are beings subjected to online bullying & abuse for voting for President Goodluck Jonathan. As at the time of publishing this story the official results of yesterday’s Presidential elections had not been released, so it is unclear to me how people know they voted GEJ.
Right now “Igbo” is trending on Twitter because of this. See the tweets below
I’m not Igbo. I’m from Edo State, a proud Bini Man. But I am appalled by the castigation of Igbos on Twitter by irridentists for voting GEJ

The Igbo mobbing is truly distasteful. People who have a vastly different experience of Nigeria from you are making a democratic choice.

Even here on twitter, people are Igbo mobbing already over these elections. And u questioned why they left the north before the elections

When some Igbos look at Buhari they see an Hausa man with igbo blood on his hands. Sooner vote for Hitler before they vote for him

I know a large number of Igbo and many are my friends, who voted the APC. Talking down on the Igbo on twitter is highly regretable.”

You know the Igbo man is just waiting for the result so he can open his shop again. He’s not here to trade words over your feeling

Conclusion: Tribalism is still very rife in Nigeria.
