On Tuesday March 31, President Goodluck Jonathan called Muhammadu Buhari to congratulate him on winning the Presidential elections, way before the final results were announced.

Now a recording of the phone call has surfaced and on it we can hear GEJ starting off the conversation, addressing the president elect as, “Your Excellency” before they exchange greetings. GEJ then congratulates him and Buhari replies him saying, “thank you, I respect you very much”

Like I told someone, with that phone call, GEJ cemented his legacy as state man.

Like I said on Twitter when GEJ conceded defeat on Tuesday,

Caller: Your excellency, sir. Hope I’m speaking with General Buhari, sir. President Goodluck Jonathan would like to speak with you, sir.

Receiver: Yes. Okay, hold on.

Jonathan: Your Excellency

Receiver: Hold on, sir.

Buhari: Your Excellency

Jonathan: Your Excellency, how are you?

Buhari: I’m all right. Jonathan: (Laughter) Congratulations

Buhari: Thank you very much, your Excellency.

Jonathan: So, how are things?

Buhari: Well, I’d congratulate you more because you…

Jonathan: …a few days to come so that we can sort out how to plan the transitional period.

Buhari: Alright, Your Excellency. Thank you very much.

Jonathan: Okay, congratulations

Buhari: My respects, Your Excellency. Thank you.

I have a question though, was Sai Buhari aware he was being recorded? LOL
