The Nigerian football Olympic team have threatened to boycott their quarter finals game against Denmark at the ongoing Rio Olympics due to the deplorable manner the sports ministry has been handling funding.
Just this morning we reported that Mikel Yobo saved the team from embarrassment when he personally paid the team’s hotel bill after some officials were detained by hotel staff for the unpaid hotel bill which should’ve been paid for by the Sports Ministry.
The team’s head coach Captain Siasia is backing their decision, speaking in an interview with Brila FM he said they have been disrespected by the Ministry and allowances have been paid for only 11 days, they are to receive their match bonus and he says personally he has not been paid his salary in five months.

We have only been paid allowances for 11 days. There is no match bonus. What of all the months we have been training in Nigeria and Atlanta? That’s not fair. I have not received my salary for the past five months.
Everything is upside down and the boys don’t want to play anymore. Whatever they want to do, I’m with them. They are right for fighting for their rights.
The country already has a bad image, but through football it has got some good image, but still they won’t let us play.
I have begged these boys, but I cannot do more than what I have done to get this team up to this point.
I have done my best and now I am tired.
