Nigeria’s U23 Football team at Rio has banned the Minister of Sports – Solomon Dalung from their dressing room before and during their semi final match against Germany tomorrow [August 17].

The reason the team is banning Dalung alongside his delegation is to avoid any distractions that he brings. The need 10000% focus to take on Germany and hopefully win!

In other news the Sports Minister has sent packing from Rio two players and three officials. They are alternate players – Stanley Dimgba, Yusuf Mohammed, alongside the team’s media officer – Timi Ebikagboro, curator and team coordinator.

They are being sent home because they according to Dalung it’s become a huge financial burden to take care of them in Rio. It was for these 3 officials that that Mikel Obi had to pay a $4000 hotel bill to avoid disgrace.

The Sports Minister however says the Mikel to the rescue claims are untrue.

Regarding the return of the unaccredited officials back to Nigeria, Dalung said,

The International Olympic Committee, are only responsible for 25 accredited players and officials including feeding, flights and accommodation. We have been carrying the rest along. In Manaus, we were forced to pay camp allowances to the extra 4 players making 29.
