The BBC Hausa service will tomorrow air an explosive interview with wife of President Buhari – Aisha.
In the interview Mrs Buhari says if her husband decides to run for reelection in 2019, she won’t back him.
He is yet to tell me but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again.
She also goes on to call out her husband’s presidency saying it had been “hijacked” and he doesn’t know most of the people he has given top official appointments.
The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years. Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position.
When asked who had hijacked the presidency, she replied,
You will know them if you watch television.
These are just snippets from the interview which is said to air tomorrow if the presidency doesn’t shut it down.
According to Daily Trust, sources within the Abuja Bureau of the BBC told Daily Trust that there was a letter from the Presidency asking the Hausa service of the BBC not to air the interview. Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, according to the source, also tried to informally dissuade the BBC from airing the interview.
However the BBC has ignored the pressure from the presidency and NASS…the full interview will air as planned and we will be tuned in.
