Nobel literature laureate, Wole Soyinka who now lives in the United States, while giving a seminar yesterday to students at Oxford University told them that if Donald Trump is elected president of the United States in next week’s elections he will tear up his green card and leave the country.

He said,

If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say [that] all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that,” said Soyinka, who is scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs this autumn. “The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up.

He also seemed to throw low key shade at singer Bob Dylan, who was unexpectedly made the winner of the Nobel prize for literature this year. When Soyinka was asked about Dylan’s win he was reluctant to be drawn into the controversial topic but he did say this,

Since I’ve written quite a number of songs for my plays, I would like to be nominated for a Grammy
