Rapper Wale has found himself in hot water with promoter – Paul Okoye who put together the, One Africa Music Fest New York” which went down in July and saw performances from Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage to name a few.
According to TMZ, his company Upfront and Personal Music Group is suing new dad Wale for his failure to turn up to headline the event which went down at the Barclays Center.
If you recall we told you back in July that the rapper had to bow out of the event because he welcomed his first child, Zyla Moon Oluwakemi Folarin, on the same night of the concert (July 22).
The website reports,
The promoters who say they hired Wale for a performance in NYC this summer, just filed suit against the D.C. rapper claiming to have paid him $25k with nothing to show for it come the day of.
In the docs — obtained by TMZ — Upfront shows an alleged signed contract between Wale’s camp and the company, plus 2 wire transfers for $12.5k a piece. They claim after Wale bailed on the show, he went radio silent on ’em when asked for a refund.
Now, they want their dough back — plus interest.
Wale’s rep responded to news of the lawsuit saying, his ex-manager booked the show and took the money for it. The rep claims Wale never saw a dime and the ex-manager never returned the cash.
