There was reportedly a stamped over the weekend [Dec. 10] at the Synagogue Church of All Nations which left 3 people dead, this comes exactly two years after a building at the church collapsed killing 115 people.
The stampede in the early hours of Sunday, started when the crowd struggled to catch sight of the church’s General Overseer – Prophet TB Joshua, during a special healing service.
The bodies have reportedly been moved to the morgue and even though the police have confirmed the incident, church authorities are denying the incident ever happened, with one church official telling Punch in a telephone call,
Nothing happened on the church premises yesterday. Nobody died. Nobody. Thank you.
According to an eyewitness’ account the stampede occurred around 4.30am. He said,
It was the church’s annual deliverance and healing programme. Usually at this time, the church becomes a beehive of activities as people come in their thousands to see the prophet for miracles. People lodge in different hotels surrounding the church. And they all arrive at the church very early.
There is a canopy on the premises where worshippers are screened before they see the man of God.
However, on Saturday, after being screened, the crowd was much and they started struggling through the doorway to see the prophet. In the process, three people collapsed. They were rushed to the Isolo General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
Two of the dead have been identified as, Emeka Okonkwo and Emmanuel Oherin. At the time of publishing this the third victim had yet to be identified.
SP Dolapo Badmos, The Police Public Relations Officer, also confirmed the incident,
The story is true. Investigation is ongoing as we await the result of the autopsy. For now, we are treating the case as sudden and unnatural deaths.
So why is SCOAN keeping the news of the dead under wraps?! Even after the police has confirmed it? We await their official statement on the tragic incident.
