2016 was no doubt a savage year!
We lost great musical talents like Prince and George Michael on Apr. 21 and Dec. 25 respectively.
Even though the are physically no longer here, their incomparable music is and that is why this Sunday at the Grammy Awards, both of these late stars will be honored in their very own tributes.
Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy had this to say about the musical tribute to Prince & George Michael,
George Michael and Prince were pop icons who showcased rare musical genius and otherworldly charisma. While each possessed a distinct style and sound, they were both adored by audiences worldwide. The passings of two such creative innovators were a huge loss for the creative community; The Recording Academy is humbled to pay homage to their tremendous legacies on the GRAMMY stage.
So far details of who will be performing the tributes have not been disclosed but previously announced performers are Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Daft Punk, Adele, Metallica, Carrie Underwood, Bruno Mars, Keith Urban, Anderson .Paak, A Tribe Called Quest and many others. The Grammy Awards will be hosted by James Corden.
