The two royal fathers were attending a public function, the Oba of lagos was already seated when the young Ooni of Ife arrived, he then proceeded to greet the Oba of Lagos before taking his seat but the Oba looked away from him and waved him off.
Gosh the shade! But why though???!
The embarrassed Ooni rather than further engage with the Oba quietly took his seat and looked very unbothered as he chatted away with another Oba.
The video has gone viral on social media with many calling out the Oba of Lagos for being jealous of the younger and more progressive Ooni who has been making a lot of waves both home and abroad since he became Ooni last year.
Watch the video below
In terms of hierarchy the Ooni of ife is the numero uno of the Yoruba monarchs, he is the king of all Yorubas. So he actually really humbled himself by greeting the older Oba of Lagos first.
Old people around Ooni need to talk to him. He has no business being humble to anyone. He is Ooni of Ife.

@AfroVII Ooni of ife belittled his crown Tbh. Hierarchy wise, he shouldn't have gone to greet Oba Akiolu.

Yoruba tradition is 'dying', my heart weeps. Oba of Lagos should be paying homage Ooni of Ife -custodian of our culture, tradition &religion

Not Yoruba, Lagosian or Traditionalist but I felt insulted by the way the Oba of Lagos treated the Ooni of Ife

Oba of Lagos is like Espanyol while Ooni of ife is like Barca. The both of them are miles apart in terms of recognition and hierarchy.

Oba of Lagos Riliwan Akiolu is really childish and arrogant for refusing to shake the hands of the Ooni of Ife. Respekt is reciprokal.

The current Ooni of Ife is too liberal for his position. He should carry himself and not so available. People don't appreciate is humble way

We Lagosians sincerely apologize to the Ooni of Ife. The Oba of Lagos doesn't represent us. He represents himself (and the marine kingdom).
