Earlier this week, Rooney accused Rebekah of selling fake stories about her to The Sun newspaper.
Seven-months pregnant Vardy, a reality TV star married to former England striker Jamie Vardy, told today's Daily Mail she has received abuse via social media since Rooney went public with her accusations on Wednesday.
Having denied the claims shortly after Rooney's allegation yesterday, Vardy has broken her Twitter silence. Why's that? Because it would be pointless, Vardy said. "What would I gain from selling stories on you?" she tweeted.
She rounded off her message by writing: 'I'm not being amusing but I don't need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you?
The 33-year-old said she had spent months trying to work out who was sharing stories about her with The Sun, so blocked everyone from her private Instagram account except Vardy to see who it was. But the question of whether or not she would play Rooney in a movie prompted Knightley to react with full-blown enthusiasm: "Brilliant, done", she said. Fittingly enough, she was at a press junket for her new film Official Secrets, in which she stars as a whistleblower who leaks a key email to the press, thereby exposing the U.S. and U.K. governments' apparent plans to sway the United Nations into supporting an invasion of Iraq.
It comes as Rebekah has revealed she is working with IT experts to determine who else may have accessed her private account in an effort to prove she was not behind the leak.
And now Rebekah has exposed what exactly was said during the phone call.
Rebekah recalls Coleen telling her, 'You know, I always really liked you, which makes it harder'. 'I have been told that I should die, that my children should die, my unborn child should die.
Rebekah had previously demanded to see screenshots of the Instagram stories and who had viewed them. "I would never have done anything like this and certainly not to Coleen". When I read that, although the end bit talks about it being the account, there's a couple of uses of the word "person" beforehand, I think there's a good argument that is saying it is Rebekah, or at least very likely it is Rebekah.
However, with so many people already following the story across social media, it's unlikely the buzz around these two ladies will die down anytime soon.
'I have no idea who it could be.
'When I do, I will deal with it the right way'.
