An actor is pictured in this screengrab from "The Gift That Gives Back" exercise bike commercial by Peloton obtained December 4, 2019.
Hunter has made the rounds since the commercial's poor reception, sitting for interviews with several local and national outlets and doing his best to defend his character.
At first, B.C. actor Sean Hunter was excited to land a role in a commercial for a Peloton exercise bike. In real life, he's a decidedly good guy, so after reading a tweet joking that the people involved in making the commercial should be jailed and another tweet stating that there was a "100% chance that the husband in the Peloton ad is abusive", I chose to reach out. "My acting coach messaged me after seeing the video and said that I looked great!"
The comedy - it's nearly as dry as the gin.
For anyone anxious about Peloton wife's well-being after watching the fitness brand's holiday ad this week, rest assured that she's safe.
However, the plan completely fell through after people reacted negatively to the tone-deaf commercial that had more than a handful of things wrong with it. It's clear that the couple from the Peloton commercial have gotten a divorce and she's moving on.
"To new beginnings", Peloton Wife replies, before chugging a martini glass full of gin. The action then moves to a glamour shot of the gin in a Christmas setting as we hear one of the friends say, "You look great, by the way", in a final razz of the Peloton ad. "Our holiday spot was created to that fitness and wellness journey".
On Thursday, Hunter shared a statement with Psychology Today where he further detailed the commercial blowback.
However, Hunter had embraced the spotlight, even changing his handle on Instagram to Peloton Husband. On YouTube, where the comments are turned off, the ad carried an innocuous title: "The Gift That Gives Back".
American comedian and Fox Nation host Tom Shillue remarking on the backlash over Peloton's new commercial, stressed that he had watched the clip "about 40 times".
