A group of Nigerian parents are calling for the Nigerian Broadcast Commission to ban the airing of “I Am Jazz” a TV show which is set to start airing on Oct. 27, 2015 on TLC Channel & available to watch on DSTV Channel 172.

The reason they are requesting the show is banned is because of it’s transgender theme.

According to the show’s synopsis,

Although born male, Jazz Jennings is a transgender female and has been living as a girl since kindergarten. Parents Jeanette and Greg have spent the years finding doctors to treat their daughter, while fighting the discrimination and misconceptions associated with what it means to be transgender. But, now that Jazz is 14, she is on the brink of the biggest challenge of her life: high school

This morning I received a BBM message enjoining Nigerian parents to petition NBC to stop the show from airing in Nigeria. The message read,

There’s never a dull moment on Twitter and right now there is an ongoing twitter fight between Ohimai Godwin Amaize a former aide to Musiliu Obanikoro and Chine Ezekwesili the son of Oby Ezekwesili

It all started when Ohimai publicly renounced his ties to PDP stating that he was breaking all ties with the party as it had no future,

Twitter has an opinion on every subject under the sun! Especially Twitter Nigeria…LOL

Earlier today news made the rounds that monarch, The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi had banned the title of Eze Ndigbo in Akureland and ordered the title to be reviewed and replaced with a non controversial title. This came following what is described as insubordination on the part of the the Eze Ndigbo when he allegedly wore his a crown to the Deji’s palace for a meeting with the Oba. Wearing a crown in the presence of the Oba is forbidden.

It is alleged that the Eze Ndigbo was immediately flogged out of  the palace for being disrespectful and  wearing a crown in front of the monarch.

The Eze was immediately dethroned and crisis followed in Akure.

The dethroning of the Eze was one of the conditions given by the monarch to end the crisis between him and the leader of the Igbo community in the town, Mr. Gregory Iloehike.

The saga is now trending on twitter, with many asking who the Eze Ndigbo is as the Igbo tribe is not known for having any kings of any sort
