Breaking News: Nigeria Turned Down Hosting 2015 AFCON Over Ebola Concerns. As It’s Announced Equatorial Guinea Will Now Host Continental Football Tournament

Equatorial Guinea has just been named the hosts for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) selected the country as a replacement for Morocco who requested that the Nations cup be postponed due to concern over an outbreak of the Ebola virus in their country.

It would appear that Nigeria was also in strong contention as a replacement for Morocco as hosts, but turned it down also due to Ebola fears. According to football analyst Colin Udoh, “Nigeria were this close to accepting to host, but backed down to the Ebola argument, saying – We were lucky to escape it first time, don’t test the fates.”

Chelsea’s Didier Drogba gives wife the wedding of her dreams in Monaco. Flies J Martins & Akon to perform….Roman Abramovich officiates.

Chelsea’s Didier Drogba remarried his wife and mother of his 3 kids Lalla Diakite in a private ceremony at the Marie de Monaco in Monaco in the south of France.

The couple had a tiny wedding back in the day when he was struggling to make it to teh pros & now that he’s playing for one of the world’s top teams he has decided to give her the wedding of her dreams. But instead of an over the top opulent bash the couple opted to invite only close family & friends.

According to  source who told UK’s Sun “Didier isn’t interested in celebrity magazine deals or needless expense.

“He just wants a private wedding with his closest friends and family. He wants to give Lalla the wedding of her dreams because they couldn’t afford much when they got together as youngsters in France.”

Their 3 kids were part of the bridal train, while team-mates Salomon Kalou and Florent Malouda among the groom’s men

The event was a star studded bash with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich officiating, Didier also flew in singer J.Martins & Akon in to perform.

Drogba became a fan of the J. Martins after hearing his collaboration with Congolese music star, Fally Ipupa on the Jupa Remix.

Celestine Babayaro is broke?!

Hey guys, Do you remember Celestine Babayaro? Former Nigeria International? Well in what can only be described as shocking he has been declared bankrupt…Yep…his petition for bankruptcy was published in the London Gazette…which is the official journal of records of the British Government.

At his prime Celestine played with top English team Chelsea, earning a cool £25,000 a week.

According to to Nigerian Tribune, neighbours say they feared he had fallen on hard times because the upkeep of his £475,000 home in Middlesex had slipped.

Jay Jay Okocha Biopic planned

Apparently there is a JayJay Okocha biopic in the works, it will be called Feet of Destiny (no surprises there…nollywood movie…cheesy title). The movie will reportedly span the entirety of Okocha’s life, including his football career.

Emeka Ike is lined up to play the football ace….Jimmy Jean Luis (Phat Girlz) will also be appearing.

Still on the topic of  biopics, there is also a DAGRIN movie in the works – which would chronicle the late rapper’s life and his tragic death at 26 in April 2010. I hope these movies are done justice, and cast properly, as they more often than not Nollywood productions turn out to be over-acted, badly directed and poorly produced.

“Nuff said

What are your thoughts?
