The Long & Short of Omotola’s Album Launch Fashion

There was some speculation over whether Omosexy would sing LIVE at her album launch (last Friday in Lagos, Nigeria)…well everyone can rest easy because according to online reports she did indeed sing live…and sounded good as well.

The only thing that concerns me about the event was how she worked 2 completely different looks in 1 night. In one look she is rocking short hair and a long sleeve dress  and in the other a strapless, sequin gown with long flowing locks…She must have had her glam squad working overtime…Lace wigs never came in more handy 🙂

Isha Sesay interviews Aliko Dangote for CNN i-list

As part of Nigeria’s 50th anniversary of independence, CNN’s i-list series will all week focus on Nigeria with interviews and reports on business, industry, culture and more.

The series kicked off yesterday with an interview with one of the world’s wealthiest men Aliko Dangote.

Inside Africa’s Isha Sesay spent the day with the billionaire business man, hailed as the Golden Child of Nigerian Business, and was lucky enough to hop a ride with him on one of his two private jets.

When asked the last time he flew commercial…”he said sometimes I travel commercial but I can’t remember” Now that’s how a billionaire roll!

New Video | Kemistry – Ijo Ti Ya

Those of you in Lagos may remember her as former Rhythm 93.7 On Air Personality. But Kemistry has since moved on and is now based in New York where she is focusing on her music, modelling and web radio. In between everything she has on her plate (including the infamous Wale callout on twitter) she’s released the video to her new single IJO TI YA (It’s Time To Dance).

Shot in New York during the 2009 Nigerian day Parade. According to her website, IJO TI YA is her dedication to Nigeria’s upcoming 50th anniversary on October 1st.

Watch it here. For some reason I can’t embed this video :(. Check out 1.37…dude dropping it like it’s hot! Enjoy and share your thoughts.

Bubbling Under | Yemi Alade – Fi Mi Si Le

Yemi Alade is a new female on the naij music scene. The University of Lagos undergraduate won the Peak Talent Show last year, and attempts to make her mark with her first single “Fi Mi Si Le (Leave Me Alone)”, a party tune written and produced by eLDee.

She’s coming with so much attitude in this video, and I’m loving it, plus it helps that the song is so catchy!

Girls are not smiling o! They are stepping up their game…big time. About time as well, we need even more quality chicks on the scene lets give the boys some serious competition.

Tuface, Stella, Omawunmi, Muna, Ali Baba @ Omotola’s Album Launch

Hey people, how’s your weekend going so far? Are you looking forward the week ahead? I’m not…It’s going to be WORK, WORK, WORK for me and with the hectic weekend I had…Lord Help me but I know I’m not up to it…I’ll just sleep walk through it!

On Friday the 24th September Omotola Jalade Ekeinde & her celeb friends gathered to celebrate the launch of her second album at the Eko Hotel Expo Hall in Lagos, Nigeria. This was the VIP launch where a table was going for 1 million Naira…there will be a free concert today (26th Sept)  at Fantasy Land in Lagos for those who haven’t got such deep pockets.

At the event were Stella Damasus, Tuface Idibia, Ali Baba, Omawumi, Munachii Abii, Zizi Cardow, Linda Ikeji, and many others.

Most people looked dope…the fashion I felt was appropriate for the event, but you know how it is with these things, there’s always 1 or 2 people who look like they missed the memo.

More pictures after the jump…and share your thoughts.

Spotted: Dawn Richards of Dirty Money in Deola Sagoe

Dirty Money singer Dawn Richards was spotted last night in New York at the 6th Annual African American Literary Awards wearing a signature aso-oke Deola Sagoe piece, paired with thigh high Gucci boots. Socialite & Heiress Lydia Hearst was also seen in the same dress at the E! 20th Anniversary Party in May.

This is super exciting! Deola Sagoe on Dawn & Lydia, Jewel by Lisa on Solange & Kelis, Duro Olowu on Michelle Obama…Nigerian & African fashion is definitely IN right now!

Vote for who wore it better after the jump!
