1960 Haute: Nneka in German Vogue

Check out Nneka looking mega HAUTE in a spread for the August edition of German Vogue. The singer is usually spotted in casual, modest clothing and while there is nothing wrong with that, it’s refreshing to see her rock a sexy look with her legs on show! I don’t think I have ever seen her legs!

I love this chick…DIE!

According to Shop Liquorice, Nneka is rocking a Deola Sagoe dress from her Naija Rocks Collection.

P-Square get 35mill Naira to be GLO ambassadors

Hi everyone, hope everyone had a good weekend? So I’m chilling at my cousin’s this long bank holiday weekend, counting the hours to pay day tomorrow, cos as I’m broke as hell, and as usual my account is overdrawn, when I come across a story online about telecommunication giant Globacom Nigeria unveiling of their new ambassadors, and the fees they are reportedly being paid.

According to Linda Ikeji a reliable source has given information on how much each ambassador is being paid, and P-Square are apparently getting N35 million ($232,000) plus a Land Cruiser, Gaddem, who do I have to screw to get that kind of money? I am pleased for them though, they have come along way from being usher clones to one of the top music acts out of Africa!

In addition to their glo contract, they have also just completed their state of the art mansion in Lagos, where they will all be leaving together with other family members. Not a bad year so far for the boys!

Basketmouth & Elsie

Word on the street is that superstar comedienne Basketmouth is set to make an honest woman of his baby mama, Elsie, in November.

Apparently Elsie has a son, Jason for him. How i didn’t hear that he even had a son is beyond me, I am the queen amebo, how did this pass me by? Here’s wishing the happy couple all the best.

New Music: YQ E Fi Mile (feat. MI, eLDee, Naeto C, Ice Prince & Banky W)

Ahead of the official launch of his debut album “I AM YQ” tonight in Lagos, YQ drops an exclusive all star remix of his 2008 single E fi mile which featured late rapper Da Grin. This remix features Naeto C, MI, Banky W, eLDee & Ice Prince.

The original was sick but this is sicker, I think MI & Naeto killed it!

New Video: eLDee|Ota Mi featuring LKT

Naija Hip Hop veteran eLDee today premiered the video for his 2nd single Ota Mi off the Is It Your Money? mixtape album. The song features LKT who also makes an appearance in the video alongside Big Brother Africa Revolution winner Kevin Chuwang Pam and Kaffy, who as usual danced her ass off!

I just found out the video was directed by eLDee himself, pretty impressive…no point paying a director when you can do it yourself!

I love the rin ba yi dance…one of my friends used to do it ages ago..brings back memories of simpler times.

Patti LaBelle Joins FELA! On Broadway

Grammy award-winning singer & original Lady Marmalade Patti LaBelle will be joining the cast of the hit Broadway musical Fela! on September 14 in New York; she’ll be taking over the role of Funmilayo Anikulapo-Kuti (Fela’s mom), currently being played by Lillias White.

She released a statement announcing the lineup change, saying,

I am both thrilled and honored to be joining the cast of FELA! on Broadway after seeing the show, I was struck by the choreography and work of Bill T. Jones, and the passion and joy that overflows from the stage. Fela’s mother, Funmilayo, was a strong, truly inspiring woman and I am so privileged to be able to pay tribute to her on the Broadway stage.

The Tony award winning musical has consistently received rave reviews since it’s Broadway debut in November 2009, and gotten the all-important seal of approval from the KUTI family.

The musical is based on events in the life of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, depicting the Afrobeat King as the target of 1,000 soldiers determined to put an end to his public performances at his legendary nightclub African Shrine. The musical ran off Broadway for one month in 2008 and premiered on Broadway in November 2009. There has also been talk of taking the musical to Nigeria & London’s West End.

Loved by critics and celebrities alike, it’s sad to hear that the Jay-Z, Will & Jada Pinket Smith produced show will be closing it’s doors in January 201 ?. The decision to cast Patti Labelle is interesting and I’m skeptical, however I am interested to see the authenticity of her portrayal of a strong Nigerian woman like Funmi Kuti.

See video of the cast performing Water E No Get Enemy after the break, they didn’t get the pronouciations of the Yoruba words %100 but other than that its great!
