Some telecommunication companies have been sending out messages to subscribers that they will increase data rate from Dec. 1, in line with the Nigeria Communications Commission’s order.

In light of the current economic recession, lack of jobs and fallen Naira this news has understandably been met with a lot of opposition.

Young Nigerians who make up a large percentage of social media users have now taken to Twitter to drag President Buhari for this directive, with many saying the price increase is to limit online criticism of his administration.

Twitter Nigeria Is Not Here For Pres. Buhari Cancelled His Trip To Niger Delta Cleanup Launch

Today President Muhammadu Buhari was scheduled to visit Ogoniland, Rivers state on a one-day trip to kick off the Niger Delta clean up after years of oil spillages destroying communities in that area.

However at the last minute the president cancelled his trip sending the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to represent him. Security threats were unofficially cited as the reason for his cancellation after newly formed militant group, Niger Delta Avengers had threatened to kill the President if he stepped foot in the Niger Delta region.

This comes two weeks after he cancelled a trip to Lagos to some commission projects, again at the last minute, again he was repped by Osinbajo. An ear infection was cited as the reason for that cancellation.
